Business Segment
opTricon develops and produces components and systems for data transmission and optical sensors.
Optical data transmission has become the preferred method to prevent interference in the transfer of large volumes of data.
The functional principle:
1. The electrical data or signals are encoded and a light source modulated.
2. The pulsed light signals are transmitted to the receiver via optical fibres.
3. The detector in the receiver converts the optical signals into electrical signals.
The data rate is practically unlimited. Today’s high end-systems achieve data rates of several gigabits per second.
Typical components for such systems:
compact lasers, including bare die lasers and VCSELs (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers)
optical connectors
detectors, including chip-level detectors
electronic drivers and preamplifier ICs.
We develop and manufacture such systems thanks to our know-how in
mechatronics
optical interconnection technology
optoelectric coupler technology
opTricon supports system engineers in the development and optimization of components for optical signal transmission.
