Medical Engineering and Diagnostics
Business Segment
opTricon develops and produces instrument engineering and components for medical engineering and diagnostics.
Medical engineers and biologists require optical evaluation or signal transmission for diagnostics or analysis. They are looking for a system solution for their individual task in the form of an autonomous device.
Innovative light guiding makes it possible to miniaturize devices or replace mechanical and electronic signals with light. To do this we optimize the system consisting of a light source as transmitter, a light guide, and a detector as the receive
Typical optical components
of our system solutions:
Light sources: lasers, LEDs, cold light sources
Beam guidance: lenses as imaging elements, wave guides and fibre optics.
Detectors: photodiodes, APD, CCDs
Our innovative solution proposals include:
Design of the optical beam shape
Selection of the wavelength
Choice of light source (pulsed or continuous).
Quantitative correlation of light intensity in the detector with the medical or biological signal.

Our compact devices evaluate the measurement function directly using a microcontroller. The result appears on the integrated display. No interface to a PC or laptop is required.
1. opTricon develops a detailed specification according
....to customer requirements.
2. The potential approach is tested through simulation.
3. The electrical circuitry and the board layout are developed
....on the basis of the simulation.
4. Next all of the mechanical components and the complete
....device are designed
5. The first prototypes are built in our own laboratory
....and workshop.
6. In a parallel process the software for the internal
....programmable control is developed and integrated.
7. The customer receives the first samples for testing and
....approval. opTricon begins small lot production and assists
....the customer all the way to full-scale production.
